The Vice Presidential Debate

The Vice Presidential debate was very exciting today. With Shruti asking the questions, the vice presidential candidates were asked about issues that were important to them. The first question asked was "What will you do to recover the economy?" Leegun was the first to answer stating that he will cut unnecessary programs and give tax breaks to all Americans. Next was Manisha Banga, she replied that she will reform Medicare and Medicaid, increase the retirement age, allow people to choose their own health care, increase taxes on luxury goods, give no tax breaks, and finally remove tax loopholes. Her response was very elaborate and gave the audience and in depth view of her policies. The next question was about education in America. Manisha stated that Norton would repeal No Child Left Behind and make education more about learning the material than beating a test. She said the Norton would create a voucher system which students could use to go to private schools if their public school was bad. Next Leegun stated that he wanted to create a strict AKS unlike Manisha. He went on to attack Manisha's policies by stating that without guidelines it would be difficult to maintain schools. Next Shruti asked about social security. Leegun stated that he will cut Medicare because the elderly rely on the government too much. Manisha stated that didn't want to stop Medicare but reform it. The next topic was foreign policy. Manisha stated that by 2015 all troops from Iraq and Afghanistan will be out. Leegun stated that he wants to increase military spending but also decrease foreign affairs. The next topic was same sex marriage. Leegun stated that originally he was opposed to same sex marriage but now he supports it because that is what the American people want. Next was Manisha, she stated that she wants to repeal "Don't Ask Don't Tell" and stated that every American has rights. Overall the debate went well. I have to say that Manisha had won the debate. Her responses were more elaborate. Next is the Presidential debate!
